Well, I think we can safely say that I've been more than a little bit quiet these past couple of weeks...what can I say? My brain has been rather overloaded with ideas but with not enough time to execute them I have about ten gaziiilion unfinished projects or ideas just lodged at the back of my brain.
I've been thinking alot about 'drawing'. Having never been keen on the idea of drawing or keeping a sketchbook to log my ideas it has been tricky over the years to register where particular themes or ideas have originated from. My tendency is to work on individual scraps of found paper and then hide them away...most of the chronology is lost...especially as things are often broken down to become new pieces of work. Loosely, drawing for me is about constructing a landscape from found images, or deconstructing a current piece of work in order to create a new narrative. It's something I must motivate myself to do more of this year!
As a way to help my brain work through the ideas it has right now...to get up to speed and also to get into the act of 'drawing' I have decided to create an
ACEO collage a day for the next thirty days! Now there's a challenge. I have been wanting to start exploring the idea of the atc/aceo for a while now and I think making some small, impulsive one off pieces would be the key to kickstarting some bigger projects right now. But will I have the energy on a normal work day to complete one? Hmmmm...I have prepared all of my cards to work on and gathered piles of scraps of paper together to pull pieces from. Collage has been on my mind a great deal this past week...oh the joy of cutting paper! What a geek...
I will endeavor to post the results here - not necissarily daily - and make each aceo available in the Restless Things shop when complete.
