Sorry for the delay...

I've had a migraine for what feels like about a year...and whilst that was going on I was tagged...again....by the lovely lucie of blu-shed. In my period of absence I have been thinking about what I could possibly tell you of interest about myself that didn't involve me sounding like a raving lunatic with OCD. Instead I thought we would opt for a tour of what's going on in my life today with pictures and a little bit of elaboration in between...

My animal of choice is Moomin...Moomin loves cardboard boxes...

At my bedside I keep a pile of magazines, nylon, lula, a-n, pop, currently reading about Francesca Woodman, a box given to me by my sister, gig tickets - yet to attend Polar Bear and King Creosote...scent du jour is Indolence by Guerlain, a handmade necklace, my heart-charm bracelet from a flea market in NY is one of my favorite things EVER, scissors in the shape of a crane.....

In the fridge we have orange juice! I love how this carton is almost jumping out of the fridge brandishing it's 5-a day values! Also houmous, sun-blush toms, activia yogurt with cereal, speedball photoemulsion and some old gocco screens I forgot about and lots of general veggie goodness in there...not very tidy...sums up my household really...

This is where the 'magic' happens...lots of dismantled books and pencils...half a dozen bottles of me ol' fave the white ink. A washing line to peg important pieces out of the way...there's a couple of drawings by Adam Stovesup there too I will frame those eventually...

The garden got a little crazy this year...I planted a pack of nasturtiums seeds and then it rained for two months and when I next went outside my entire garden was FULL of these plants! Nice in a way, I will be sad when they die...

Now, I think that's enough for one day!

Relax!

I think sometimes I forget how to just relax...actually, I know I do! It's been a strange week of doing things that normal people do such as visiting family, drinking tea and having a catch up - instead of busying away trying to cram every spare second of the day with either being creative or just getting something done. I have made a note that it's something I must do more often!

Thanks to Lesley from What Blog for featuring my work! Such an intriguing montage of recent drawings with an older print, made me look at things differently.

Several original drawings have been added to the Restless Things Shop along with a few newbies...

Red...

Red... was a bit of a birthday self-portrait I started the other week, aged about 6 I think! Taken from my favorite photo of me as a kid. Thankfully I don't have red hair anymore, as beautiful as it is it makes life so much easier!

Wanting, needing...

Oh! This is a piece I have been frowning at for a few weeks now. Was so unsure of how the hands would look and it turned out pretty sweet in the end...

Also, I have opened a second etsy shop Works On Paper in order to clear out some of the backlog of book plates and illustrations I have. If you are into collage, mixed media or ACEOs it might be worth a look as there will be tons of children's book illustrations, encyclopedia and medical illustrations over the coming weeks there may be something of interest for you!

Have a great week!

It's official...!

You may now visit oliviajeffries.com, my new online portfolio! This, my friends, is the product of many weeks worth of extreme caffeine intake and crying/shouting at the computer screen. It's been emotional - re-teaching myself how to write html but at last I feel ready to show the world my new baby. It's a simple platform for my recent work to just speak for itself and although most of these pieces have been debuted here before I hope you enjoy perusing them there unfettered by my blathering!

I will leave you with a song that's so intimate and lo-fi; reflecting my creative concerns right now...listen, browse, enjoy!
