...housekeeper with the kandinsky tattoo...

Left: The Nymphs Elysium (finished drawing), Right: nymphs on parade in my sketchbook...

Not much else to say today but I'm really enjoying looking at the works of these two ladies...

And I though I would share one of my favorite songs EVER (it's over 9 minutes long, so go make a cuppa first)...

Oh, The Hours...

...spent updating this website of mine! I really enjoy having the freedom to make adjustments as I please but sometimes I wish I had enough money to pay someone to do it for me and make it all jazzy and swish!

I have just finished updating my website with a selection of new works that have been sent off for my show at Pulp - more details on that later in the week...

Levitation/Meditation

A little evening sketch, I can't get the damn feet right, an interesting theme that has appeared in recent works is levitation...

Thinking about listening to music whilst I work - I really find it helps me get into a groove with whatever I'm working on, especially when I find a track that reflects the feeling I'm trying to conjure up. I love it when I find a song that does this and then I feel compelled to put that track on repeat - for a whole day if needed (seriously) - and get so lost in the sound and the feeling that it almost becomes a white noise in the background and then I know I'm in a special place where my favorite drawings are made.

There is a certain rapture to be found in repetition, I guess for me this is a kind of meditation.

This is what it is...

Yesterday I decided that it was time to be a bit more grown up about drafting out drawings. Today I bought myself a nice thick sketch pad. So at least now when I want to find that sketch from last Tuesday I know where it will be instead of sifting through mountains of sheets of paper.

I always make sure I have some loud music on when I'm working, today Kings of Convenience: Riot on an Empty Street is my favorite, especially the tracks with Feist.

So, I think that was no posts for 20 days...

Cy Twombly, Ferragosto V, 1961.

When I'm bad I'm really very bad at blogging. Three weeks with no posts is perhaps the longest break I've ever had from trying to fill this space and I've actually had things to say for a change!

So, I had my big birthday (thanks all for the birthday wishes), a nice dinner and surprise Evan Dando gig. I wished on a shooting star outside said gig and the next day the wish came true (superstitiously speaking, I don't think I can tell you what the wish was otherwise something bad might happen) so I highly recommend wishing on stars. My trip to London was great and the Twombly show at Tate Modern was stunning. There was more eating, drinking with added shopping - never a bad thing. I'm not one for carrying my camera around with me so I have no photos to show for it. All in all it was a good birthday - and I don't often say that about my birthday. Since then I have been eating, eating, being ill, eating, visiting family, eating and not much else really! But now it's time to get back on the work wagon...

landmarks and blathering...

Made a stack of new business cards to be sent out with orders...nice and simple.

I am very excited today as, despite having one of those landmark birthdays (y'know, one that ends in a zero) over this coming weekend I am getting ready for a trip to the big smoke on Monday to see the Cy Twombly exhibit at Tate Modern! Twombly is probably my all time favorite artist and no doubt I'll be back next week with lots of blathering about the show...

Have a fab weekend!
