Found notation...

If a plant can make you ill, cannot the same plant or another make you well?

If you eat the same plant, you are using a homeopathic medicine; if you eat a different plant, an allopathic medicine.

If you simply hang the plant around you neck, you are employing magic.

In so far as men have knowledge, they use that knowledge. Where knowledge fails, they attempt to supply it, and we term the attempt magic.

A sick man or a bereaved woman feels that something must be done to assuage the hurt; and if no effective remedy is available from knowledge, magic takes its place.

Ode to New York...

It's a terrible thing to admit but despite spending nearly two weeks in New York I only managed to get my camera out once or twice and came home with around 35 photos! I never feel very comfortable wandering around with my camera. I've been really enjoying Sandra over at Smosch's photos of her trip to NY, she's managed to capture all of the sights and sounds that I forgot to snap!



And in honour of yesterday's found cinquain poem I wrote my own over tea this morning...

New York
you smell like piss
and candy roasted nuts
chips pants broil zucchini trash
New York

...well, it made me smile :)

A week of New York...

Good Monday to you!

I thought this week it would be nice to get back in the groove and share some bits and pieces from my New York trip and the image above is one of those such things.

I picked this poem up in a junk store and spent half of my trip wondering what on earth a 'cinguain poen' was but only just got around to looking it up this morning. A cinquain poem is a short, un-rhyming poem of five lines made up of 22 syllables distributed as 2, 4, 6, 8, 2.

Sounds like this girl's mother was bipolar!

Also, the Restless Things shop has been updated with a few framed originals and some sale items - more of those to follow when there is enough light for me to take pictures!

home sweet home...

Finally arrived home yesterday after a 9 hour delay caused by the ever wonderful British weather - I thought we were having the arctic weather whilst I was away but it seems like the weather fairies have other plans! First the plane gets canceled, then the next one gets delayed by a couple of hours and then when we are finally about to take off...there is a fault with the damn plane!

And now there is snow everywhere...brrr!

Next week I will maybe have a few pics from my trip to nyc, some pics of some found goodness to add to the paper collection and a shop update to include some framed original pieces...
