season's greetings!

I'm signing off now for a week or so but just thought I'd drop in to wish you a merry christmas and happy new year! Thanks for stopping by, leaving comments and enjoying the work and waffle I make.

I'll be having a massive third anniversary sale in the shop in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for stuff as I'll be adding things as and when I can. Followed by a fresh new look and a few changes in the new year - I can't wait!

So, stay warm, put your feet up and remember: the calories don't count for the next 10 days!

Louis Reith...

Some of you may know that I run the artworks on book pages group on flickr. I spend most of my time weeding out all of the sketchbook submissions to the group as people don't realize what kind of books I'm on about. Yesterday I had one of the most stunning submissions - see above work from Louis Reith - and had to take a little lay down, after spending quite a while just gazing at them, to calm my beating heart. So simple. So good! View the full set here.

will they/won't they?

The 's' word that is. No sign of it yet. I've never seen clouds move so fast! Took all of these pictures in the space of a few minutes this afternoon as the sun was going down - quite amazing to watch! Trying to stay warm whilst drawing today - I've fashioned a balaclava-type thing out of an old wooly black hat. Now, when I sit at my desk I look like a baby/burglar/sado-masochist - and I won't be showing you any pictures of me in it!! My head is warm though...ahh...

just a little doodle from my day to's sooo cold I can hardly keep myself warm! two jumpers and a hat and a scarf indoors for me, huddled up by the radiator working on some doodles...

thanks to those who shared some links last week, I'm going to make myself a big cup of tea and have a good nose at them later on.

keep warm wherever you are!

share some love...

Going back through recent posts this morning, trying to find where I lost the plot with regular posting, I noticed I haven't shared many links of late so today I thought I'd share some blog love with you.

I'm really enjoying Claire Loder's blog - its good to see a British artist blogging (or maybe they do and I just haven't found many of them) - i love her whimsical heads!

Anonymous works is a blog about 'American primitive folk art, vernacular photography, outsider art, basically anything visually interesting and great.' Some of the stuff uncovered by this blog has to be seen to be believed - especially this massive collection of pressed four leaf clovers - amazing!

Artwork and photographs from Hanna on Kiddet are simple and beautiful...

Bold and graphic yet feminine artwork by Camilla over at Pop Life blog never fails to intrigue...

If you have a favorite blog or link to something of note please join in and share your links in the comments...

i've decided it's okay to love rubbish...

We recently had our very big and very dilapidated shed removed from the bottom of our garden. While I await its replacement I've been sifting (literally) through the remaining rubble separating compostable and non compostable waste (note: I am a composting geek) and preparing the ground. I've been making a pile of the interesting objects I've turfed up and made a little display of my faves. It really is okay to love rubbish.

Check out the organized collection group on flickr.

for a dark and rainy day

I think we can safely say I've lost my blogging thread right now...but here's this month's mix! With tunes from Portico Quartet, Anna Ternheim, Molina and Johnson, Le Loup, Wye Oak, Alasdair Roberts, Richard Walters & Faultline, The Choir of Young Believers, Thom Yorke and The Rural Alberta Advantage...make yourself a cuppa, put your feet up and have a listen for half an hour. You'll be glad you did.
